Orchid is a dinky little girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very worried girl at the moment, who is finding everything quite overwhelming and clearly isn't used to much handling or socialisation. She isn't yet confident enough to approach us on her own and will often run away when unsure. She has now started to approach to accept a treat, so is already making encouraging progress. Despite her worries, she does get excited to see you and so with TLC we think she will thrive in the right home.
She has recently moved to a foster home where she is getting to experience home life for the first time and is settling in well. She has never lived in a home before, but has started to learn all about home life and is even starting to take herself out to the toilet. She sleeps soundly all night in a crate with one of her friend.
Orchid will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace and would benefit from adopters with experience of ex-breeding dogs. She could share her home with older, dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle and quiet introduction to the home, along with her own space to settle in.
She gets on wonderfully with other dogs and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws.
Orchid doesn't yet walk on a lead and harness and will need to practice first around the home and garden until she is feeling brave enough to venture further. She is a gorgeous little girl who clearly loves the company of other dogs, and we feel she will truly thrive once she is settled into a loving home. With time, reassurance, and patience, she will blossom into a gentle and affectionate companion.
She is a little underweight at the moment, so we are trying to build her up gradually.
