Deloras
01-07-26 Deloras is a shy lady who will win your heart over the second she begins to trust you. She has come into our care from a breeder and is now searching for a loving new start.
Since arriving, Deloras has gone into foster, and has really started to show us what a beautiful, sweet-natured girl she is. She is settling in wonderfully and has been incredibly brave in a new environment. Deloras is currently living with other resident dogs and gets on wonderfully with them, and relies on them for support. She is happy to share her space and takes great comfort from having other dogs around her.
Deloras is still a shy girl and, until she gets to know you, her surroundings and her new routine, she can be anxious and unsure. She may keep her distance at first while she takes everything in, but her inquisitive nature is really starting to shine through. She loves food, and this has been a wonderful way to build trust with her and help her confidence grow. She is very easy to handle and pick up, although she is still hand shy and unsure of people’s intentions, so she will need someone who understands the importance of going slowly and allowing her to build trust at her own pace.
It has been wonderful to see Deloras beginning to show her personality. She is now greeting her foster family with happy tail wags in the morning and when they return home, which is a lovely sign of how much she is starting to relax. She loves spending time in the garden, where she enjoys mooching around, sniffing, rolling about and relaxing in the sunshine. She also enjoys toys, zoomies and can be a little cheeky at times, showing that her confidence is growing. Deloras has even started to initiate play with the other dogs, which is lovely to see.
Deloras gets on wonderfully with her canine friends and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need at least one kind and steady resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. She would benefit from a dog who is calm and respectful rather than lively or too much in her face, allowing her the space to come out of her shell.
As Deloras has never lived in a home before, she will need continued gentle guidance as she learns all about everyday life. She has done amazingly well in foster and has been clean in the house since day one. She sleeps quietly overnight and has started her lead and harness training in the garden. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she continues building confidence in the wider world. She could share her home with dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle introduction and her own space to settle in.
Deloras has arrived slightly overweight, so she will need a good diet and gentle exercise to help her reach and maintain a healthy weight. This will need to be continued in her new home. She also has some alopecia along her back which should improve with a good groom, diet and some TLC.
Deloras is a gentle, clever and incredibly sweet little girl who is learning that the world can be a kind place. Her lovely personality is already starting to shine through, and with time, patience, love and the support of the right family and canine companion, we are sure she will truly blossom into a loving and devoted companion.
She has a travel document.
