Tulip
Tulip is a worried girl who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She is a sensitive little soul who initially found people quite overwhelming and would run away when approached. Since being in our care, Tulip has come on in leaps and bounds. She now happily allows her kennel mummies to pick her up and has grown much more confident with being gently handled. She is also making fantastic progress with her harness training and now calmly lets her harness be put on. While she still takes great comfort from the company of her kennel friends, it has been wonderful to watch her confidence continue to blossom.
Tulip is still a worried girl who can be unsure in new situations, so she will need patient adopters who are willing to let her progress at her own pace without placing any pressure on her. Although she has made incredible progress with us, she will need time to build trust in her new home, and her adopters should be prepared for her confidence to take a little step back while she settles in. She will be best suited to adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs. She can live with older, dog-savvy teens, aged 16+, who are sensible and will allow her the time she needs to settle at her own pace. A calm, predictable environment will give her the best opportunity to continue building her confidence and feel safe.
Tulip relies on other dogs for comfort, so she will need a kind resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. She would be best suited to living with either a male dog or a female dog that is larger than her, as she can sometimes struggle with smaller female dogs.
As Tulip has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training, and the other basics of home life. However, she has already shown us how capable she is of learning, and her recent progress with handling and harness training gives us every confidence that, with patience and positive guidance, she will continue to flourish.
Tulip may still find the world a little scary at times, but she is a lovely little girl with a gentle nature who is growing in confidence every day. We know that, with time, patience, and the support of a canine companion, Tulip will continue to blossom and discover just how wonderful life can be.
