Pop

Pop is a fantastic little lady who has come to us from a breeder, although we have been told she has lived in a home previously. She knows her name and responds to “Pop”, so her new family will need to keep this name.

Pop is full of love, character and energy. She can be a little timid when first meeting new people, but it doesn't take her long to warm up. Once she knows you, she absolutely loves cuddles, enjoys giving kisses and thrives on human company. She has a very affectionate nature and loves being involved in whatever her people are doing.

As an active Jack Russell Terrier x Collie, Pop is looking for a home that can provide plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment to keep her clever little brain busy. She is a quick learner who has mastered “sit” and is currently learning “touch”. She picks things up quickly, which is helping with her ongoing muzzle training.

Pop walks beautifully on her harness and would happily walk for miles, so she will need an active home that enjoys getting out and about and helping her learn new things. She is doing well with her training and is now walking alongside calm dogs, which is lovely progress. However, she is not yet comfortable wearing a muzzle for long periods, and we are continuing to build her confidence with this gradually. The aim is to help her become comfortable wearing one when needed, so she can be kept safe around other dogs in busier areas in the future. At the rescue, under supervision with her surroundings managed, she is enjoying muzzle free play time with Lassie so it is possible she will not always need a muzzle for mixing with her canine friends.

Pop will need to be the only dog in her new home. Although she is making progress with carefully managed walks alongside calm dogs, she can still become reactive when she feels overwhelmed. Her adopters will need to be experienced, understanding and committed to continuing her positive, reward-based training to help her feel more comfortable around dogs when out and about.

As Pop has previously lived in a home, we think she is likely to know many of the basics, although she may need a few reminders as she settles into a new routine. She could live with sensible, dog-savvy children aged 13 years and over but will need a home without cats.

Pop is a wonderful little dog with so much love to give. With patient, experienced adopters who can provide the active lifestyle, ongoing training and consistency she needs, she will make a fantastic, loyal and loving companion.
