Twist is a 7-year-old Dachshund who spent his life as a stud dog before coming into foster and he is now finally learning what it means to be loved. At first glance he can appear rather serious, but beneath that grumpy expression is the sweetest, cuddliest boy who just wants to snuggle.

Twist has made huge progress in foster. He now jumps up onto the sofa of his own accord to cuddle foster mum, often climbing bravely through a pile of dachshunds to reach her. Once in your arms he relaxes completely, soaking up every bit of affection he’s given.

Twist absolutely adores female dogs, especially dachshunds and transforms in the company of kind lady friends. He is gentle, caring and almost fatherly towards them, and has even taken a very shut-down foster girl (Hasty) under his wing, sleeping beside her in her crate each night to keep her company. For this reason, Twist must be homed with at least one calm, female dog (ideally a dachshund or similar size). He does not enjoy the company of male dogs and is best in a female-only pack.

Twist is not an active boy and has shown little interest in walking on a lead, he simply stands still! Instead, he prefers to quietly potter around the house and garden and then snuggle back up on the sofa. Because of this, he would really suit someone looking for a gentle companion rather than a walking buddy.

As Twist has never lived in a home before now, he is still learning about house training and home life. A patient adopter will be needed to guide him as he continues to settle, and he would love access to a secure garden for his pottering.

Twist’s perfect home will be:

  • Calm and adult-only
  • With at least one kind, resident female dog
  • Quiet and nurturing - ideal for someone who wants company rather than adventure

It would be a dream come true if someone were willing to offer Twist a home where he can feel safe, warm, and adored. He needs a gentle female dachshund friend and a soft sofa.
