Loyal, Loving, and Longing for Home

Dewy is a beautiful 7-year-old German Shepherd cross who has come to us from a breeder. We’re told she’s lived a happy life so far, and now she’s ready to find a forever home where she can enjoy the comforts and companionship she truly deserves. With her sweet nature, clever mind, and loyal heart, Dewy is one of those truly special dogs who leave a lasting impression on everyone who meets her.

Dewy would absolutely thrive as the only dog in the home, as her greatest joy is forming a deep bond with her people and being their constant companion. That said, in the right circumstances, she may also be happy living with a calm, friendly dog of similar size who doesn’t mind sharing affection. She cannot live with cats, small furries, or livestock, and would be best suited to a home without equines, as she can become overstimulated and chase when excited.

This girl is incredibly smart and already knows so much. She’s house trained, lead trained, and knows a whole toolkit of commands including sit, stay, down, heel, and recall. She’s very obedient and responsive to her carer, especially when there’s a tennis ball involved—Dewy is ball-mad and will light up at the sight of one!

Despite being a little older, Dewy is still very active and fit, and she loves her walks and adventures. She’s happiest when her mind and body are kept busy, so she would love a home that offers both physical and mental stimulation. She walks nicely on the lead and listens well to her handler, though she may react if another dog barks at her. A calm “no” usually settles her quickly, and she’s always eager to please.

Dewy is known for her affectionate, gentle nature. She loves a fuss at the end of the day and is the kind of dog who would happily curl up beside you on the sofa after a long walk. We’ve been told she’s good with children, though due to her size and enthusiasm when playing, she’d be best suited to a home with older, dog-savvy teens or children who have experience with large breeds.

Everyone who meets Dewy is struck by her loyalty, intelligence, and heart. Her carer speaks of her with so much love and can’t believe this amazing girl is still waiting in kennels. Sadly, we know that black dogs and shepherds are often overlooked—but Dewy is truly a gem of a dog who deserves the very best.
