Charles the Gentle Giant, Ready to Begin Again

Charles is an 8-year-old Labrador who has come to us from a breeder. He is now looking for a kind and understanding forever home to call his own. Having never lived in a home before, everything is new to him, but Charles is adapting beautifully with time, patience, and love in his foster home.

When he first arrived, Charles was a little unsure and took some time to settle, but his confidence has grown day by day. He now enjoys his daily walks and is doing well on the lead, though he’s still learning his manners and sometimes forgets himself in his excitement to greet people. He adores his toys, especially the squeaky ones and proudly carries them to bed each night.

Charles has shown he learns very quickly when it comes to housetraining, he thrives on routine and would love a home with a secure garden where he can sunbathe and watch the world go by. He prefers a peaceful life and would be happiest in a calm, quiet home, though he copes well with busier settings when out and about.

Health-wise, Charles has had a few minor treatments since arriving. During his neutering, a small lump was removed from his lower left eyelid. He was also treated for conjunctivitis and mild eye irritation, which is now being managed with simple daily eye wipes. A slight entropion has been noted in his right eye, though it currently doesn’t require treatment. These will be considered pre-existing conditions and will not be covered by standard pet insurance.

Although Charles came from a breeder and had no previous home experience, he has proven himself to be a quick learner. He is confident enough to be adopted as an only dog in the right home but could also live with other calm, kind dogs who will help him continue to build his confidence.

Charles has a travel document from Ireland and is a special boy with so much love to give. He would make a wonderful companion for an adult-only home or a family with older children. If you’re looking for a gentle friend to share your garden, your walks, and your heart, Charles might just be the one.
