A Sweet Soul Ready to Shine

Honer is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu cross who has come to us from a breeder to begin a new life filled with love and kindness. She had never lived in a home before arriving at Many Tears and was very nervous at first, unsure of the world around her. But this sweet girl has come such a long way, and we are now seeing her cheeky, sassy personality begin to peek through.

Currently in foster, Honer has started to enjoy the comforts of home life. She follows her fosterers around the house with a curious sparkle in her eye, always interested in what they are doing, especially if food might be involved! She shares her space beautifully with the other dogs and clearly finds comfort in their company, so she must be rehomed with at least one kind and confident resident dog who can be her friend and guide. Although she is still hand shy and not yet ready for strokes, she will take treats and give the gentlest of kisses. Her fosterers are confident that, with time and patience, she will grow to enjoy gentle fuss.

Honer has been clean in the house, sleeps peacefully through the night, and has even begun to explore the living room and react with great interest (and the occasional growl!) to the television. She still finds direct touch a little frightening, but she is brave and making gentle progress every day. Her confidence and trust are slowly growing, and she truly is a little gem waiting to sparkle.

As an ex-breeding dog, Honer will need adopters who understand that she is still learning about the world. She will need support with lead walking and confidence building, and lots of gentle encouragement as she continues to adjust. Because of her nervous nature, we are looking for an adult-only home that can offer her the quiet, stable environment she needs to flourish.

Honer has had six teeth removed during her spay, and occasionally lifts her front right leg when walking. Our vet has examined her and found no cause for concern. She is not in pain, but this may be a quirk to keep an eye on. Please note that as the cause is unknown, this may not be covered by standard pet insurance.

Honer travelled to us from Ireland and comes with her travel documentation. Now, all she needs is a patient and loving forever home where she can feel safe, continue to grow in confidence, and discover just how wonderful life can be.

Could you be the special someone she's been waiting for?
