Sweet Delilah has been on quite the journey. She first came to us from a breeder, a very scared and shut-down little girl who had never known the comforts of a loving home. Everything was new and overwhelming for her, and she relied heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance.

Delilah was adopted for a short while, but sadly, she returned to our care when the resident dog, her source of comfort and confidence passed away unexpectedly. Without that companionship, she struggled to cope. Since then, she’s been back in her foster home, where over time, she’s begun to blossom in ways that make our hearts so proud.

It’s taken many months, patience, and gentle encouragement, but Delilah has made incredible progress. This once fearful girl now enjoys gentle strokes when you say “touch,” and even understands “cuddles” when it’s time to be picked up, such a clever and trusting soul. This is great progress for Delilah, but she is still a nervous dog. She will need her adopters to be understanding and provide her with gentle handling while she learns to trust her new people. She’s also learned to walk on a long line in quiet areas, following her foster carer’s lead with growing confidence.

Delilah is still a cautious and sensitive girl, especially around new people or busy environments. Whilst she tolerates handling from her carers, who she has learnt to trust, she isn't comfortable of new people handling her, and they will need to earn her trust. Her curiosity is starting to shine through though. Her foster family describes her as a “total foodie,” and she’s learning that good things happen when humans are near, especially when treats are involved!

At home, Delilah finds great comfort in the company of other dogs. She will need at least one kind, confident, and playful canine companion in her forever home, someone who can show her the ropes and help her continue to feel safe. A calm, quiet, adult-only household with a very secure garden (she’s quite the jumper!) and her own cosy space to retreat to would be perfect for her.

Delilah is housetrained, sleeps soundly through the night snuggled up with her doggy friends, and continues to grow braver every day. Watching her transformation from a terrified little girl to a gentle soul beginning to trust is truly heartwarming.

Now, Delilah is ready to find her forever person, someone patient, kind, and understanding, who can offer her the time, love, and security she needs to keep blossoming.
