A Shy Sweetheart Waiting to Feel Safe

Sandy is a 4-year-old Dachshund who has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a calm, understanding forever home. After spending her life without the comforts of a home, everything is still very new to her, and she’s taking her time to learn that the world can be a safe and gentle place.

Sandy is currently in foster care, where she has been patiently waiting for three months. She’s a timid little soul who can be very worried by unfamiliar people and situations. When visitors come, her first instinct is often to bark and hide, but with the people she knows and trusts, Sandy loves a cuddle and will happily curl up in your lap for affection.

Lead walking is still a work in progress. She can walk around the garden but is not yet ready to explore beyond that. Even small changes can make her nervous, so her new adopters will need to be very patient and gentle as she gains confidence. House training and home routines will also take time, as Sandy had never lived in a home before arriving in foster.

She absolutely adores the company of other dogs and sometimes enjoys a playful game. A kind and playful resident dog will be essential in her new home to help her feel secure and gently encourage her to be braver day by day.

Sandy will need a quiet, adult-only home where she can continue to grow at her own pace. In the right environment, she has the potential to truly flourish into a devoted and affectionate companion. If you can offer her the steady love and reassurance she needs, Sandy could be the most rewarding little friend you'll ever meet.
