Vela
A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance
Vela is a sweet Cavachon who has come to us from a breeder and is now beginning her journey toward a brighter future. She is a very scared little girl who hasn't had much socialisation, and while she will allow you to gently pick her up and stroke her, it’s clear she’s still unsure about human contact and if pushed out of her comfort zone she may panic and make the wrong decision. She’s looking for a calm and patient, adult only home where she can settle in at her own pace.
Vela is in foster where she’s been settling into home life for the past few weeks. She’s clean in the house and enjoys spending quiet time pottering around the garden, her tail wagging gently as she goes. She’s still nervous around people, but is becoming braver each day, starting to follow her fosterers and quietly taking interest in what they’re doing.
Because of her background, Vela will need a calm and quiet, adult-only home with adopters who have experience with nervous or ex-breeding dogs. She relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog to help guide her as she continues to build trust and confidence. She’s a quiet, gentle little soul who hasn’t made a sound in foster, and while she may not be the ready-made companion some expect, she has so much potential to blossom in the right hands.
When Vela arrived she had some hormonal alopecia, but this has since grown back nicely. She also has luxating patella in both hind legs, grade 2 in the left and grade 1 in the right. These aren't currently causing her any issues, and she moves comfortably around the garden and even negotiates a high kitchen step with ease. However, any treatment needed for her knees in the future would be considered a pre-existing condition and won't be covered by standard pet insurance.
She comes with her travel documentation and is ready to begin her new life. Vela is looking for someone truly special to help her realise she is safe and loved. In return, she will offer a quiet but deep and heartfelt companionship that grows stronger with every small step forward.
