Reba, a Gentle Soul Starting to Find Her Bravery

Reba is a beautiful Chow Chow who has come to us from a breeder to find her very special forever home. When Reba first arrived, she was absolutely petrified of the world around her. Having never experienced much human interaction, everything was overwhelming and frightening for her.

With gentle, patient care from our staff, Reba has slowly started to make some wonderful progress. Her confidence is growing every day and she is always so happy to see her kennel mum in the morning and will greet her with a waggy tail and jump up happily on her kennel door.

Reba is now walking beautifully on her harness and is enjoying going for walks. She has even ventured down to our big play yard to finally get a taste of freedom for the first time. She was a little overwhelmed at first since it’s all new to her, but with more time and encouragement, she’s going to absolutely love having all that space to run and play.

Reba has also started to allow some tentative strokes from those she knows, but she remains very wary of touch. Her adopters will need to understand that building trust will take time, patience, and a great deal of kindness.

Reba has a close bond with her kennel companion and draws great comfort from having another dog by her side. For this reason, she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her reassurance as she adjusts to life in a home environment.

As she has never lived in a home before, Reba’s adopters will need to gently support her as she learns about house training, lead walking, and all the routines of daily home life. She is already kennel clean, so this is a great start. A calm, quiet home will be essential to help her feel safe and allow her to settle at her own pace. We would consider homing her with dog savvy older teenagers.

Reba is a very special girl who has already shown great courage, and in the right home we believe she will continue to blossom. It will be incredibly rewarding for her adopters to see her grow in confidence and trust, and to witness her tail wag as she begins to feel safe and loved. When Reba arrived, she had some patchy areas of fur, but these are already starting to grow in lovely.

Reba’s journey will take time, but for the right person, she will be a truly wonderful and loyal companion.
