Ember is a truly beautiful soul whose life so far has been filled with more challenges than any dog should have to face. She came to us from a breeder, carrying both the scars of her past and a quiet strength that shines through despite everything. Ember was born a double merle, and because of this she lives with both visual and hearing impairments. Her vision is limited and she is sensitive to light, but she navigates her surroundings with surprising ease and rarely bumps into things. Her hearing is very limited, and she may be completely deaf, but Ember has learned to adapt in her own gentle way.

As if this wasn’t enough for one little dog, Ember arrived to us already pregnant. Shortly after, she gave birth to a litter of puppies. Overwhelmed and unable to care for them herself, her puppies were hand-raised, allowing Ember to begin her own journey of healing. Since then, she has blossomed into a much happier, more confident girl.

Ember is shy when first meeting new people and may retreat or hide away until she feels safe. But once trust is built, her true personality begins to shine through, soft, affectionate, and oh-so loving. She adores a belly rub or a chin scratch, and once she knows you’re her friend, she will happily sit by your side for hours, offering gentle kisses and quiet companionship.

She is making steady progress with her lead training, walking nicely most of the time, though sudden noises or movements can spook her. With patience and understanding, she will continue to grow in confidence. Ember also finds great comfort in the company of another dog. She currently shares her kennel with a male cocker spaniel, and his presence brings out her braver, more playful side. For this reason, Ember will need a calm, resident male dog in her forever home to help guide her as she adjusts.

Ember is looking for a very special home, one that is calm, quiet, and adult-only, where she can take life at her own pace. She has never lived in a home before, so everything will be new to her, from house training to learning what it feels like to curl up on a sofa. But with patience, kindness, and unconditional love, Ember has every potential to blossom into the most wonderful companion.

She deserves to finally know what it means to run free in a garden, to rest her head on a soft bed, and to be part of a family who loves her just as she is. In return, Ember will give you the sweetest, most loyal love, the kind that only a dog who has overcome so much can give.

Please don’t let Ember wait any longer. She is ready for her forever home, and ready to finally learn that the world is not such a scary place after all.
