Benji

07-10-25 Benji has recently come to us from a loving home after his beloved owner sadly passed away. This sweet gentleman has just turned 13 years old, and while we are heartbroken that he’s found himself in rescue at this stage of his life, we are hopeful that his purrfect retirement home is just around the corner.

When Benji first arrived, he showed us that he is a gentle and affectionate boy who, despite being understandably a little frightened and confused by all the changes was happy to have a gentle fuss and was very easy to handle.

Unfortunately, Benji is finding the cattery very stressful and has massively retreated into his shell since arrival. He is now quite worried about being handled and has started to hiss and scratch and just wants to be left alone. On one occasion he did nip a handler, but he was extremely stressed at the time. We know that this is purely due to fear as we did get to experience the sweet and gentle side of him when he first arrived, and we think that once he's back in a home and given time to settle that his lovely nature will emerge once more.

In his previous home, Benji enjoyed having outdoor access, so we’d love to find him a quiet, safe home away from busy roads where he could once again potter about and enjoy a bit of sunshine when he’s ready. He’ll need to stay indoors initially, until he’s fully settled and bonded with his new family. He would be best suited to an adult only home.
